Hello readers,
I hope mother nature has been treating you all well!
It's a dark and snowy day here in NYC.
So what better day to wear my newest hand-knit item?
Excess by Anat Rodan
Needles: 5 and 6
Yarn: Louet Gems Fingering Weight, cloud grey
Skeins: 1
Size: custom
This was a very quick and easy knit. I did make some changes based on other raveler's modifications. For example, I switched out the stockinette double hem and made the rim garter stitch, which calls to the garter knit chunk at the front of the hat. Also, I had gauge issues: I was able to make the stitch gauge, but my row gauge was off. Even though I knit only 22-round repeats for the body, the hat was still longer than the anticipated 4.75 inches (I think it was something like 5.25 inches). So check your gauge everyone!
Other than that, I followed the pattern as written. This was my first time using Louet Gems and I found the yarn to be pretty great. It was soft with a very slight halo; very enjoyable indeed. The color was also quite interesting: it was a cool grey yet had a slight lavender hue. I'll definitely be purchasing more skeins.
As you can see, I've been giving my Instagram app a good workout. The day was very overcast so I had to get creative and find ways to lighten the pictures. I think the Instragram filters quickly took care of that problem.
That's pretty much it; I haven't had time to tackle more complicated knitting, but sometimes one needs a quick and easy project that leaves you just as satisfied.
So I'm off to do some grading and writing. Everyone stay safe and happy knitting!
