I'm keeping this knitting train rolling right along, so here's my latest. Boom:
Setesdal Love Hat by Kate Gagnon Osborn
Needles: 1 and 3
Yarn: Patons North America Kroy Socks 4 Ply, Gentry Grey
Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine, Redwood Mix
Malabrigo Yarn Sock, Turner
Skeins: One skein of the Patons, scraps for the other two
Size: One size
This project also flew off my needles, mainly because I was excited to see the emerging pattern. This is my second Osborn pattern (hello Selbu modern), and definitely not my last. Her stranded work is phenomenal and I hope to knit her other patterns. Pattern is very well written; I made no modifications.
I've used the Malabrigo and Berroco in the past, and like these yarns very much. In fact, I've been looking for patterns that use up scraps of sock yarn from other projects. Fair isle seem the best way to use up these little bits and bobs. I did have to purchase a full skein of sock yarn for the background color, and so I went with the Kroy sock yarn I purchased at my local Michael's. It's not terribly soft while knitting, but does soften with a nice steam blocking. It's a good, sturdy yarn.
During knitting, I wasn't sure of the color combination I chose since I was limited with the leftovers I had. Seeing the finished project in the light of day, however, I think the colors work overall.
Side note: I'm not normally a fan of hearts, but decided to stretch out of my comfort zone. Maybe this hat will serve as a little magical talisman to bring love into my life? I guess I'll know soon enough...
