Happy New Year everyone!
Wishing you all a healthy and safe year, and a significant improvement from last year's horror show.
I'm chugging along with my goal of finishing off WIPs; here's my latest:
I started knitting this sweater in March 2016, so it took me almost 5 years to complete. Well, better late than never. The pattern is clearly written, and easy to follow. I wouldn't say this is mindless knitting, but it makes intuitive sense, once you get into a groove.
I pretty much knit the pattern as written, with the following exception: many Ravelers noted that the sleeves were incredibly tight, so they recommended to knit the sleeves one size bigger. So I knit the sweater with directions for a 32" body, and 36" sleeves. This resulted in a perfect garment size for me.
I was a little concerned that the 32" size would be too small, considering my bust is 33". I wouldn't say the final result added an additional 4" to the body circumference, but definitely enough to give me a little breathing room (34.5").
Aaah, madelinetosh. What else can I say about this glorious yarn? Incredibly soft, squishy and in rich, hyper-pigmented colors. The yarn does bleed quite a lot; hopefully I was able to get out a lot of the dye during the blocking process.
During blocking, I was surprised that my garment didn't stretch width-wise, but definitely grew about 2" length-wise. I was really scared that my sleeves were going to be too long, but they ended up just fine.
This is probably my most ambitious, complicated knit to date. I LOVE it. Perfect color, size and just my style. I can't wait to wear it and show it off (once social distancing is a thing of the past...)!
